I had reset the valve clearences before running the motor so soon as it had run everything settled down a bit therefore tappets needed adjustment again. New ignition barrel fitted...

Persistant missfire is driving me mad

Hi there. I have a problem thats driving me mental. I have recently rebuilt the engine in my van and fitted a 1641cc bore kit. The week before i rebuilt the motor i had a missfire start (its only ever missfired when the points have worn out). Its still the same after. Its running twin...

    Pertronix

I had the same problem with my kit. With a little perseverance and some brute force and determination it pushed down far enough in the end. (Hope i never have to remove it!). On initial start up it ran like a sack of poo but once the timing had been adjusted and a few minor adjustments its much...

    Backfireing

Every now and again mine starts to backfire pretty bad - last time was a combination of a bolt loosening on my merged header and my points were pitted pretty bad and out of adjustment.

    CoolCampers.co.uk

Reason its taken so long is i've only just found this forum to have my moan on. Its also taken this long to work through the faults and rebuild the various bits and pieces to assess the extent of what was needed in the first place and i've done most of it myself. The mot side of things - i'm no...

    CoolCampers.co.uk

Cheers for the advice i'll get onto that in the week. Thing is i've had the vehicle nearly a year now and it'll get questions being asked why i've done nothing sooner. I have done the bulk of the work now at great cost to myself (were talking about £1500) for the would be Mot failures alone...
