so you lot running proper fridges, have you all got vents cut in the side of your van for them? that's what puts me off...
It put me off too. That's why I went for an electric fridge. They are expensive though.

i just figured that most fridges pump out heat when on so will need a fresh air source to stop the ambient air temp rising regardless of power source.

so vents are a nessasry evil for modern luxuries like ice cold beer. iguess though we can be creative how and where we place the vents..

It might just be my bus, but with westy louvre windows that don't fit very tightly I have "natural" ventilation .

Also find it a vicious circle...fridge produces heat...drink cold beer...put more beer in fridge...fridge produces more heat...drink cold beer............

it's all about the important things in life, drinking cold beer or worrying how much heat your fridge is giving out

I bought a big old Halfords 12V cooler last year, which fits perfectly between the buddy seats. It looked after us for a week in Le Mans, Vanfest, VW Action and a few other weekends away on a totally mullered 110Ah battery. It helps massively if you chuck everything you need to take in the fridge at home the night before then transfer it, so it's just keeping stuff cold, instead of trying to cool it...

Am I right/wrong in thinking the vents for the Electrolux/Dometic fridges are to exhaust
the gas 'products of combustion' and not just the heat from teh heat exchange ?

Thus OK to run on electric without vent but not gas ?

Could you vent through the floor maybe ?

Help on this appreciated.

Cheers

James

i have A camping gaz 3 way like the one in this link

I run it at home on mains for a day before i go somewhere. then on 12v whilst traveling, if i dont have a hook up i put it on gas it needs ventilation but i just put it in the awning, either way it is very cold, it even makes ice cubes.
