Wouldn't it be easier to buy a cheap microwave and an inverter (12-240Volts)

I would think that a normal microwave would draw too much power, and possibly blow the inverter.

yup, your average microwave puts out 750watts and with inefficiency you would probably need 1000w inverter, i wonder how long the 12V would take to cook a pie 8)

ah 235watts, should be good enough to heat a pie but you need a 20amp fuse in your cigarette lighter or other output. it would be really handy with a hookup 8) on full output

I have a 800W constant supply (1200W peak) inverter for about £30 from Argos but I wouldn't run a microwave from it, and I keep having to tell the GF its not powerful enough for hair straighteners or a hair dryer, but then she shuts up when I suggest she could use an iron in it!
