For Sale very reluctantly is my Westfalia.
Lots and Lots of history from previous one owner in America, including the original bill of sale from the original Californian dealer, lots of paperwork, auto record book he kept,
Mot'd right round to end July 2012 with NO advisories from a strict garage that specialises in classics, old rolls, old Austins, old Bentleys etc - for example they failed it the first year I had her because the windscreen washers didn't work - the system wasn't holding pressure, that's all sorted - but if they wouldn't pass that you know it's a proper MoT!
I've owned her since May 2008.
OFFERS INVITED AT £9.5K and above please. (this I believe is reasonable and takes into account there is no interior otherwise i'd be after 12k I think)
REDUCING TO £9K or very very near offer.
Just a brief descrip here, feel free to pm, come visit, phone me for a chat. I'm in Woking, Surrey, thats J11 off from the M25. 07775 560 898. leave me a msg if I don't answer.
Lowered by the Busstation, King and Link pin narrowed front beam with adjustors, drop spindles, 2 spline drop at the rear,
CE opening rear safari window, I have the original rear heated screen glass that will go with her,
SACHS clutch, and thrust release bearing,
orig Westy tow hitch,
Electronic ditributor, I have the original distributor with a pertronix Ignitor also,
Selection of expensive rubber seals from StatusVW, (which actually don't need doing apart from the Right Hand side furthest rear window, but I went a bit spending crazy in the first year),
No Interior (I regretfully sold this) but I have sourced orig Westy sink, orig westy fold out table with table leg and the little screw in part in the floor,
I'm told very early orig rock and roll bed hinges,
orig westy cupboard doors, and some new Reimo type hinges as I was going to do a faithful reproduction of the interior,
The Canvas part of the pop top roof is in very good cond, I believe being fitted shortly before leaving the States,
There are now UK Halogen headlamps with the little side lights fitted, I've carefully done this from the Camper and Bus guide to make UK legal so the low lights are now the indicators,
Up at the rear retained the US spec rear light lenses but again carefully made where the reversing lamps were into the indicators with orange bulbs,
The only welding needed when I bought her were to the seat belt mounts to the wheel arches, all done by Berkshire Bugs with proper thick gage steel and big washer underneath, seam sealed and rust prevented in those localised areas.
It has a split charge system from the states, don't know if this will work, but I use it as a useful imobiliser effectively switching the battery off and stops it from loosing charge.
The only thing I would recommend to anyone is to get the front chassis rails notched to clear the steering tie bars a bit more, if you fall down a pot hole they clatter into the chassis, and also i'd imagine on a long corner I would possibly think the tie bars could be in contact with the chassis which could mean you are straining the endjoints or bending the tie bars. This was to be next on my list!.
Starts on the button, I keep her running every two weeks to ensure this, and run her around the block or to work occasionally,
Currently has the Duckhams green classic oil in which I love for my classics.
Transmission gearbox oil I did when I first bought her.
What else... There is a brand new FlexiTec fire extinguisher I have not got around to fitting for the engine compartment, where the flexi bit is designed to snake around the top of the engine bay,
I have found my un opened and unused Khyam camping Awning I purchased from Fishbrain.
All included.
And magazine featured!! November 2009. pictures taken at Thorpe Park Ski - will include a copy of the magazine for you!!
Many thanks for taking the time to read this!
