1969 LHD 4 Berth Westfalia Pop top (walkthrough) – 11 months MoT - £7,300 oVno

Originally imported from Texas where it was previously owned by a retired US armed forces army special officer who has owned it since the early seventies.

He used to drive it all over the states and into Canada and Mexico on trips with his family. It was a daily driver up until last year.

It has the majority of its original interior.

The vehicle now comes with 12 months MoT and is ready to be registered in the UK (all customs taxes paid / correct paperwork present).

Although the original paint has been over-sprayed by the previous owner, the bus retains most of its original character and is in very good condition for its age. To enable the bus to pass its MoT and to make it road worthy the bus has had all of the mechanics overhauled and parts replaced where necessary.

Outside
- The chassis is excellent and straight
- The bus has been over painted by its previous owner and looks great in pics, but it has some runs and dry spots.
- The nose has had a minor bump but has been professionally repaired, along with the lower LHS sill by Dan Munday an award winning restorer in Devon.
- Drivers door has some scratches on the outside but inside lowest point (inside only) has rusted through a patch and needs to be repaired (easily).
- The long panel is super straight and has nothing wrong with it at all.
- Left rear corner is good, apron is good, engine deck-lid has a little rust on bottom right corner.
- Passenger’s side short side had a patch of rust but this has now been repaired
- Sliding door is very good and works fine
- Passenger door is solid inside and out.
- All gutters are excellent
- Some surface rust around the reas RHS rear window - easily repaired.
- Front window screen replaced with new rubber as old window screen had a crack in it
- Front bumper, drivers side step has some rust in it

Inside
- Cab floor has been repaired (By Dan Munday)
- The dash looks nice and even had a CD player in it.
- The front walkthrough seats are original but could do with being recovered.
- The rear camping area has the hard to find sink / icebox, buddy seat behind driver, upper Childs Cot and the rare small Childs cot with poles in correct bag and location and the cabinets are all in great condition
- The rear seat / bed material has been replaced its a good job, but not the original colour material.
- Cab floor has been repaired
- New cab floor mat
- New cab door cards.
- Cargo floor is good but has some surface rust

Mechanics
- Engine is a dual port engine which has done less than 10,000 miles since being installed (as new) from Rocky Mountain motor works in the US. This has been fully serviced, and tuned, with all servicable parts being replaced including the fan belt. Compression is good and the valve clearnce has been set.
- All electrics have been serviced where required.
- A new Monza (4 tip) exhaust has been fitted
- All of the brakes have been serviced with new parts (as required)
- All ball joints have been replaced.
- Steering has been serviced; the steering box is excellent with minimal play
- Gearbox is excellent (changes gear with ease)
- Front lights replaced for MoT
- Battery tray has been replaced (By Dan Munday)
- New Battery installed

The roof
- The fibreglass topper is in very good and the tent was replaced in 2006 and is in good to great shape with a great install.
- This bus is solid with all major repairs now completed;

Rust is limited to what is described above - thats it!

If the poor quality paint was replaced this would be 'super nice’, classic Westy!

This is an ideal run around or Westy renovation project

This bus is located in Plymouth for viewing and test drives.

PM me for contact details.

PX welcome

Andy
