Original Wide 5 & small lights California bus that needs a bit of work but is a good solid example, Westy interior and westy roof panels in good condition, Cab Bunk and poptop single bunk still there and the coolbox has original shelf. Still got the original canvas on so this might need changing as there are signs of damp in the corners where its been stood.

The body is in fair condition, It has had a re-paint sometime in it's life ( i would guess at at least 10 years ago, maybe more) the re-paint isn't the greatest but it is shiny in places. It has scars of the road on most panels, scratches and dents here and there. The front panel is the worst by far. Both rear corners have some filler in them. There isn't any rust in the cab floors, no rust in the sill panels, no rust in the chassis or belly pan sections. Underneath the bus is in great shape. Cab doors and slider are also in great shape. There are a couple of minor rust issues around the 1/2 moon cooling vent intake. It's certainly got that patina, ideal for a rolling restoration or use as is!

The engine is a 1600 with twin single choke carbs, a bugpack exhaust and electronic ignition. It runs really well and starts first time.

Items that my contact in the states has found and will need work are the following
1 - track rod ends
2 - no steering damper
3 - horn doesn't work
4 - washers don't work
5 - handbrake performance is poor

There may be other bits but nothing on the list is a major issue and all are just service items.

Very very nice Graham and V.good value 8)

This won't hang around for long!

Matt, not really as they are the history of this bus and often they are removed anyway before we get the bus,

Ok no worries if you get any black and gold original plates I would be interested.

Am I correct in believing that Cali buses were only given Black plates if their first registration in the US was in that state? i.e their whole life was spent there.

History Basic information on 1963- present plates:

1963 was the last year a complete new plate issuance to all vehicles occured (the plates had a black background and chrome yellow characters).
1970 is the year the basic plate was changed to a blue background with yellow characters. It was also the last year any black/yellow plates were issued.
1976, year round registration started which requires a month expiration sticker afixed to the upper left hand corner of the plate.
1982 is the year when the standard plate was changed to a white background with blue characters with a sun graphic and CALIFORNIA in red block letters. It was also the last year any blue/yellow plates were issued.

California Black plates were issued from 63 until 69. If you have them and you want to swap for a pair of California blue or white plates plus cash......lemme know! Or, if you want a matching pair....I have them!
