Hi Mr Insanity. :D

My parents bought their Danbury brand new in 1972, when I would have been 6 years old.
We had ours for 18 happy years, but my dad then went and sold it, despite my protestations!
I still have a chunk of rust from it, aswell as its original VW instruction manual, and a Danbury Conversions brochure... complete with a coffee mug stain on it.

I look forward to following progress with yours. :)

hi danbury doug!

gutted ur ol man sold it. I said to my parents once, id rather die in it than you sell it!

thankfully on my 17th birthday they gave it to me!

i have lots of chunks of rust and as u can see by the pics they are all being cut out!

had a call today to ask if I wanted the undertray to be sprayed too!

mad!

hey guys,

i am really stuck with the colour choice for my van.

In 1970 it was Dove Blue (I have the original touch up spray can!) and was thinking shall I have it re-sprayed that colour but have it really glossy.

or...

chose a totally up to date colour and make it custom.

really stuck as each day my mind swings a different way!

i have noticed that in the mags etc most vans are pastel colours.

yours confusingly

Can't help with your colour choice but looking forward to seeing the change ;)

you lucky thing, having a family owned bus! regarding the paint - please don't paint it anything other than an original VW colour (imo).

keep the pics coming, great to see another bus fighting the tin worm!

Nice bus and story......................make sure you paint it a earlybay colour, will look so much better in my oppinion (for what its worth) 8)

Hey Guys...

Thanks for the support...

As to the colour I am not going to be popular.

I have completely modernised the van and with that have gone for a modern colour.

The colour is a Porsche Metallic Electric Blue inside and out with a brilliant white roof / bumpers
Wheels are Porsche Chrome Fuchs
Seats are heated Porsche Leather black seats
Interior door cards are Black with electric blue stitching
Danbury interior completely modernised with black leather(ish) cushions with blue piping
Steering wheel is a black MCJ with all annodised fittings
Engine all colour matched
Suspension with new beam (slightly narrowed), all new brakes and a drop of 2 splines

All about to happen in the next 2 weeks... (gulp!)

Super excited!
