HI all,
http://www.flickr.com/photos/10993701@N02/sets/72157601237941569/
It is a LHD 1970 Westfalia, imported from California a year ago. It is still wearing its original sunbleached pastel white paintwork, so you can see it for how it really is.
Had a load of work done for the MOT in Dec 06:
New windscreen and rubbers
4 new suspension arm bushes
4 new ball joints
o/s outer track rod end
New panel in drivers footwell (there must have been a leak at some point as it is the only welding needed on whole van)
New swivel pin kit
New Steering dampner
New exhaust pipe
Also recently had work done in preparation for sale by Terry Beetles (receipts provided)
Brand new set of Radial white wall tyres with new valves
New set of leads/plugs
4 new front wheel cylinders
Set of new front brake shoes
New coil
New condenser
New points
Tuned - valve clearences/timing
Theres some surface rust, mainly at front of van. Theres a couple of parking dents. All the doors close firmly, and bodywork seams are visible. Rear bumper, although tatty even has rear splashguards
The poptop is in good working condition and the canvas is new.
Interior is original and in god condition, including bunk bed, childs bunk for front cab. I patched the rock n roll bed seat and have temporarily replaced the rear bed cushion with foam as it was missing. Coolbox is complete with original shelves, sink requires new tap, though. Also 2 burner camping cook included.
1600cc strong and lively. It is standard apart from alternator. Gear change is positive with no selection problems.
UK registered, proof of all UK customs duty and VAT paid. Tax exempt of course.
Its a great original example with a whole file of reciepts and history going back to 1986. Ive even got the original owners manual. The Californian plates expired in October 2006 and it was MOT'd in the UK on 21st December 2006.
What else? Basically its a grear original sunbleached westy and you can see it for what it is, no covering up with a shiny new paint job! I think anyone who knows their early bays will love this van.
My son owns it and I am helping him sell it. We imported two vans last year when we were on holiday in California and ive kept mine but he wants a more modern vehicle for work.
Price £5,500
Anything else, dont hesitate to ask: [email protected]
Regards
Chris
