For sale is our beautiful 1971 LHD VW Early Bay CamperVan with pop-top roof. The van was imported from California in 2012 and underwent complete restoration by Morecambe and Wize at that time. We purchased the van in 2015 and have kept it maintained to really high level since as we’ve used it for summer family holidays all over Scotland with day trips to the beach flung in for good measure. Van was featured in West of Scotland VW Club Calendar in 2018.

We bought van originally at such a high spec to avoid mechanical hassle (I'm pretty rubbish with a spanner) and as it happens we’ve kept investing in it every year as shown below, steadily improving things and keeping van at high standard with focus on being completely reliable and safe but more than looking the part too. Van kept covered in Winter and only used in Summer. Price £19750. Insured agreed value £21K. Based in East Ayrshire.

Mechanical/Technical: The engine is reconditioned 1.6 unit with twin carbs for bit of extra pull. It has electronic ignition and Butty’s Bits Throttle kit fitted. Front disc brakes. Vintage Speed exhaust recently fitted as is full engine bay fire extinguisher from VW Aircooled Works. Even though it’s MOT exempt we’ve kept getting it MOT’d for safety and in 4 years of MOT it’s needed one track-rod end in that time. Tyres are good and rated for commercial vehicles. We’ve also fitted electric pumped windscreen washer system. Mechanically van has been serviced and maintained every year at start of season by local VW club specialist even though usually we have only managed less than 1000miles each summer.

Exterior: Van has original paint from restoration in 2012 and is in great condition all round. Recently new chrome mirrors and stainless wiper arms with new chrome Wolfsburg hub caps. Thule roof rack straps and ladder for roof storage. Van has complete underside Dinitrol cavity rust protection professionally carried out by local specialist PreserveProtect and is completely solid (have before and after pictures) . Couple of wee blemishes/runs from original 2012 respray and couple of tiny stone chips on front panel/bumper, one on drivers door.

Interior and Comfort: Van has beautiful Kustom Interiors KI Westy Deluxe camper units (https://kustominteriors.co.uk/camperinteriors/t2-bay-interiors/) with slide-out 2-burner cooker, storage, separate fridge and SMEV sink unit with electric pumped tap and black glass top. Matching swing-away table and storage box with L-buddy seat. Laminate floor with cream/maroon finish re-covered seats and full width rock-and-roll bed. Bed in the pop-top roof has upholstery to match cushions and curtains all round. Rear jail bars fitted. Propex gas heater with thermostat fitted for colder nights and split-charge leisure battery fitted for lighting and fridge with campsite hook-up in engine compartment. Hand-made buddy box in walkthrough area for handy driver side storage. Seatbelts fitted in rear. There are heat-exchangers on van however we’ve never bothered to get them serviced with Propex heater in place.

Accessories: Full set of thermal window mats, long hook-up cable, box of cable spares, fire extinguisher, roof ladder, hand-made buddy box, USB Stereo with front speakers. Petrol can. Full JustKampers breathable storage cover included. Few pictures of the van on its trips over the years here hopefully - please PM for details and link to more pictures if required.

Sadly I can't PM as a new member, but could you tell me what rear seatbelts they are? Just lap belts of 3 pointers?

Thanks for confirming. She's lovely. I'd have to come a long way to view though - could you spam we with all of the photos you've got so I can ask all the questions I can before deciding whether to come for a viewing?
