I have owned this beautiful example of a type 2 early bay for 3 years but due to lack of use and an extension to the family (and house) it now needs to be sold.
The camper was imported from the U.S. in 2006 by the previous owner and started its life in Florida, there are still several Florida police benevolent association stickers in the rear window and lots of paperwork. I have also had the original number plate made up copied from original paperwork.
I have loads of history on the van and its first owner was a gentleman called Hermon Wallenda - he was a German born circus performer who emigrated to the U.S. in the 30s and was a member of a famous trapeze act.

It is believed that he collected the van from the factory in Germany, toured Europe and then shipped the van to Florida where he lived.
The camper is an original Westfalia confirmed by the data plate and the interior is original and as it should be with nothing missing. My VW specialist said it has things on it that you just don't see on most westies as they have either been lost or taken off over the years.
I have cleaned up the inside which is all still original and in great condition. The front cab sound proofing has been taken out and replaced to tidy it up. I have also had all four original wheels and the spare powder coated for longevity and a new tyre put on the spare. I also had the original US spec mains hook up removed and replaced with a current standard UK fitment for comfort with a double plug under the table. I have kept the original parts and there has been no cutting or damage to the interior.
When I bought it the shocks were replaced all round and the exhaust replaced, it has had an oil change every 6 months and a full service every year. She runs like a dream and has never let me down not once! I believe it is the original engine to the van.
Having spent most of its life in a 'dry' country and since being in the UK has been dry stored the body and chassis are extremely solid. Again the VW expert who looks after her has said its one of the most solid vans he has seen.
It has passed its MOT every time without any advisories and the current MOT is valid until April 2016. The van drives superb, pulls extremely well and the brakes are also excellent.
If you are looking for a good solid van that you can enjoy and use straight away then you will struggle to find another one as good as this, I know from personal experience!
