Sadly I'm selling my 1971 Westy after 11 wonderful years of ownership :(

I have it listed her on ebay but I really want it to go to a good home, so here are the details...

1971 VW Westfalia Camper van
LHD 1600 Petrol engine
3 Berth and comes with lots of extras

We have had many years of family camping holidays by the sea around the South West of England, we were a part of a VW club in Bristol and toured the country attending many shows. However my children have grown up and the time has come to pass her on to another loving owner who will make good use as she has only been driven a hand full of time over the last couple of years.

I bought my van back in 2006 and was imported from the United states in approx 2005.
I purchased the van from a classic VW specialist in Taunton and he has looked after this van in many ways over the years, from routine servicing to body repairs etc etc…

Originally from California and has travelled what it seems the length and breadth of the USA as it has all the original stickers of states they visited (see pictures attached) these are on the inside of the sliding door.
I have found papers that show the owners name and address with tickets of places visited and receipts of things they have done. (I will pass this on to who ever buys the vehicle).
It was then sold to the salvation army and then came over to Holland for a short time before it was brought to the UK, I have the original US plates that will come with the vehicle.
I then bought her and she needed some attention to the paint as it was blistered from the California sun and I had her resprayed in 2007. Lots of work done to make her look great.
Overall the vehicle was in really good shape with no rust under the chassis as it had been in such dry conditions, I have kept her waxed oiled every year to make sure I preserved the chassis and it is still in very good condition with no welding required under the vehicle at all (take a look there is nothing to hide).

Serviced regularly and has been lowered (slightly as the front). I have done some of the servicing over the years due to my mechanical background.

There are some areas that will need some attention and I have pictured some of the small rust points that has started to appear. The passenger front and sliding doors have a little bubbling and a couple of points around the vehicle. I had the front panel replaced last year and I had a quarter window taken out (these windows are known for rusting out and needing replacement), I replaced with a full window and repairs were sorted out.

The interior has all the original features which include a rock and roll bed, an original westy cooler with sink and cupboard and a side wardrobe (so lots of storage space). The seat covers have been replaced with authentic replacements and the door cards have also been replaced approximately 5 years ago.

The bunkbed frame is in good order but the canvas has a hole in the middle so has been taken off. The roof hinges up and the canvas is fairly old but in good condition.

This van is TAX free due to being over 46 years old and will come with a new MOT.

I will only accept serious offers as this is a lovely van in really good condition.

Price - £18,950 ono

Please arrange a visit before you buy.
