can i fit drop spindles to my 1972 bay window ?
how much drop do they give

where is the best place to get them from?

This is the ride hight now, is this standard ? looks like its been slightly lowered already.
I have had a look under the front and it has a standard front beam.

thanks

Yes you can get dropped spindles for it, transporterhaus will lower it 3.5" and frenchslammer will lower it 2.5". Thaus use flipped balljoints however frenchslammer use standard.

I went for frenchslammer on a 3" narrowed beam on our '68 8)

Also please fit some larger tyres (radius wise) on the rear of your van, by running those low profiles on the rear you will be over stressing the engine and making it work too hard.

By fitting larger rear tyres you will in effect be able to travel with the engine doing less RPM for the same speed, giving you an easier journey and less likely to cause damage to your engine.

That is a great bit of advice. It's only doing 55mph on the motorway and feels like it's stressing it out a bit . Can you recommend an ideal tyre size .?

Thanks

The bigger the better,

It all depends on the offset of the wheels you have,

I would aim for 195/65/15, you may have to go for 185's due to the offset, and if you can get 70's in there even better.

Realistically the only way to find out is trial and error, so try and find a friendly independent tyre shop with a good range of part worns you can try differing sizes till you hit the sweet spot.

Hope that helps

You can play with tyre sizes to find an equivalent to the std tyre (185 r 14) on here look
