Literally just washed the old girl and was a little forceful with the wiper arm and snapped it off. Anyone got a spare forsale? Just holla. Jamie

Is it the 68 one year, hard to find, rare as hens teeth arm....

Ron

What exactly snapped?
The arm into 2 pieces or the top of the wiper shaft where it attaches to the arm with the grub screw?

Ed just found one I bought off you last time lol so that's a result but seems the bit of which the arm bolts onto on the van is worn so barely holds on with grub screw? Can I change that bit? Thanks Jamie

I have that bit to NOS wiper spindle.....oh, I have a wiper arm spare as well..

Yes, you just need the silver shaft itself with a smooth finish at the top for the grub screw to bite on.
It comes separately from the brass bearing.

In theory yes.
However bear in mind that the brass bearing on your current set up is held in place with a very fine circlip on the shaft (#7 in diagram). VW part number 311 955 237.
This might get damaged or ping off into oblivion when you change the shaft.
The below picture from the parts book shows the surprising number of small parts associated with the shaft. Bear in mind this diagram also shows the post August '68 set up. To check the individual parts look at the link below for their numbers. You won't need 18 and 19 that are not on this page.

How long is a piece of string?
I've seen NOS ones go for between £60 and £150 a pair.

I paid about £100 for mine a few years ago, took quite a while to find them though!

Ok ed, so how much is one of them bits?? Cheers

The pair of shafts with the brass bearings that I pictured above were sold a few years ago.
The shaft on its own is available here:
