'72 crossover

About three & a half years ago I bought a 1972 crossover bay with a view to restoring it.

It wasn't too bad, rot in the usual places

It went straight into the garage and the stripping started

I made an enthusiastic start replacing lots of metal. All three cills on both sides, chassis sections, wheel tub, floor sections, front arches and lower front panel etc.

Beam was stripped and painted

Front underside cleaned up and painted

Discs were skimmed

Calipers shot blasted & kitted

Other bits shot blasted, new ball joints in the torsion arms

The beam was refitted and then it all ground to a halt for over two years!!

However, recently I'm back on the case!

Hi, thanks.
My mate skimmed the discs and we used his press to fit the torsion arm balljoints but other than that it's all down to me.

The front running gear is continuing to be replaced

Also the loom and other interior bits

It is a Danbury pop top, I am considering various options, change to a Westy top or even make a new top from scratch. It will be a camper with a functional, contemporary interior.

This was just using up some paint just to see what the final colours would look like.

Well work continues on & off at a pace that makes a snail look speedy!
I took the engine and 'box out a few weeks ago and run it up this week.
Oil pressure 40psi at tickover 50 psi above tickover.
It will now be stripped, checked, cleaned, detailed etc. 1641 barrels and pistons fitted.

Roof from the cab back has been removed and an import roof purchased and the skin removed from all the metalwork still attached.
After I took off the roof I decided that I may as well replace the right hand corner as it needed repairing top and bottom, a bit of a pain but it's fitted now. It also gave me the opportunity to address the flaky paint that was behind the panel and visible through the vent.
