Been a while since i posted a few pictures.

Just changed the Front: wheel bearings, reburbed the calipers, fitted nice new shiny discs, pads etc and fitted steel braid brake hoses. The van runs smoother and stops really well.

Am aiming to do the rear in the next few weeks.

Latest Job - Rear overhead locker


First attempt - was ok but not what i wanted, not enough room too narrow in height:

Second attempt better.

Fitted Zig unit. Bought wiring today so will be wiring up the dual charger unit soon.

Door was hard to get right.

Also decided to fit a larger table.

Did you suspect something to make you remove the tank?

Yes, i kept getting a smell of fuel and was wondering if the pipes had rotten. Then one day after filling the tank completely full, i was parked on a slope, i could see petrol dripping out from underneath. As we all know dripping petrol and hot engines are not a good combination.

So decided to replace the pipes but once the firewall and tank were removed it wasn't the pipes that needed replacing.

Not a nice thought like you say - petrol plus a hot engine....

Anyway - looks like a nice job so enjoy

Glad to see you finally got the tank out - at least it's piece of mind even if nothing had been wrong!

Yep, Gez did another amazing job. Tank now back in, new fuel lines, breathers etc, and van back home.

Also whilst it was in his garage i had the dash fully rewired, a volt meter installed and the wiper spindles replaced (seized).

hey there, just read this whole thread, nice work ! it looks really good 8)
my '72 is the same colour originally and i like it way better the than colour it has now , so you may have made my mind up for me when i do eventually have it painted.. cheers ! :mrgreen:
