Hi folks,

Any tips on how to get an agreed value for my bus for the insurers?

Thanks,
Nick

depends who your insurers are. I got mine with sure term, up to £5000 you just send them 6 photos ( front back sides, interior and engine) and sign a condition statement, anything more needs a written valuation from someone like type 2 owners club, but these cost and take time to arrange! Camper and Commercial Mag reckons Footman James will do self cert valuation up to £15k and only need a club valuation above that. Hope that helps.

Mike Clements (Clem on here) did mine. Sent him some photos and words on what had been done etc. He sent me a great letter which my insurance company accepted no problem.

Top man, thanks Mike

When I insured mine with agreed valuation they had a little box that said "how much did you pay for it", stupidly I told them the truth!

I thought I paid about £2500 to £3000 under the market value and spent the next few weeks convincing them it is actually worth more!

I did it in the end but I had to point them in the direction of Early Bay & VolksWorld websites to get them to see the error of their ways!

I'm with Adrian Flux, within their "specialist" VW camper section! They're just agents the actually insurer is NIG(?).

Thanks folks. I should have said. I'm with RH Insurance. They don't actually specify what they need for the valuation, but that they need one for establishing an agreed value.

If the info helps, I'm with RH Insurance, the agreed valuation from Clem was no problem. I had had it insured for estimated £10k from day one, had lots done and added CSp discs etc, Clem valued it at £13K and they accepted his valuation without question. I am sure it cost me only £10 more. They were also really good when i needed to add another named driver as i leant my bus to a friend to go to Glasto, no additional cost for the remainder of the year which was about 6 mths.

I'm with Peter Best and like others had to send in photo's as the bus was taking shape. Started at an agreed of £15 K and I then increased and agreed the value again when the bus was finished. Very helpful people. Keep the photo's that they send back with a their stamp on them with your documents though.

Clem - are you still doing this for folk? I did pm you, but I suspect it went awry.

Cheers,
Nick
