Hi All

I am in the process (still !) of repairing the sills of my 1970.

The slide door (near) side is getting there having cut repair sections from a new inner sill and mended the the inner sill - just have to weld on the new outer now.

I then took a look at the off-side (oh dear).. i hope to repair the inner sill again as before and patch up the middle sill like Camperdan has done on the slide door side of his. But !

The outer sill has been botch repaired before on this side and I dont' think there is enough original material left to weld a standard outer sill to.

I saw this on the JK site however..

http://shop.justkampers.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_29_202/products_id/10131

which seem to be a wider (higher) replacement. Has anyone used one of these before by any chance - how high does it come to, floor level ?

Hope someone can help.

BR

James

Received the 'extended sill' and cut of the old (previously repaired) sill yesterday.

BUT! I am astounded by the difference in sheet thickness. The old repair section (probably fitted 15 years ago) is about twice the thickness of the piece from JK. I thought I'd go this way as the sill had 'holed' above the old repair and below the floor on the offside. Also the bottom edge was ragged after peeling off the belly panel, inner and middle bits of sill . Now I think I would have been as well to fiberglass the hole. :?

hey ho at least it will be lighter and faster now eh ?

Cheers

You want to have a look at original tophats and repro ones the difference in thickness is scarey.....

You can bend the repro ones by hand the orginal ones you would have no chance...

Pump loads of waxoil in.... 8)
