just wondered, i ordered some thinking they would take very little from the leisure battery but now not so sure ?

a not so sure potts :?

They look awesome! LED's shouldnt draw too much, nothing like an amp and speakers so you should be fine!

I am thinking about fitting a small buzzer that will sound when my leisure battery drops to a certain output to prevent draining the main!

Should hopefully prevent jump starting at a show in the rain !

yeah, ive hooked them up and must admitt, they are pretty good, just wondered if the draw is 24w for the 300 leds ie
24 div 12 = 2 amps per hour ????
also, IF i say cut the strip to 150 LEDs does that equate to half the draw ie 1 amp per hour, but then presume you
have to have a resistor ??

thought i was intelligent till i started electrics

a dumbo potts

You are right that 24 watt on a 12 volt circuit draws a 2 amp current. You are also right that reducing the number by half should drop the power (and current) by 50% too. That is however on the assumption that they are run in parallel which I'm guessing they are. LEDs usually run in groups to share the 12 volt. You should be able to run as few of these groups as you like. Probably 3 or 4 in a group. No resistors should be needed.

Resistors are needed in modern car mods to retain the original resistance so that the diagnostics don't label them as faulty.
