Well they went on fine, and ride quality is excellent, but when I do a slow sharp right hand turn theres a (not very loud) rhythmical knocking noise coming from left hand front wheel. Been underneath and double-checked nothing is loose, wheel bearing 'nut' is not too loose or too tight.

Its a 69/70 bay with drum brakes. It didn't make this noise before dropped spindles were put on. Beam is stock, not lowered. I had to adjust tracking after new spindles on as both wheels were pointing outward a bit. Steering is good and precise with no wandering.

most likely the bearings? did you chage the bearings for new, was there any dirt grit on them when you removed the drum?

Fiver says you're running stock 14 inch wheels and the inner balancing weight is knocking slightly on the bottom of the lower balljoint.

Take the wheel off and have a look, and if I'm right, get then grinder out and shave a bit off the wheel weight. 8)

Yes indeed and you were right on the money. You have been added to my 'buy this man a drink at next VW show' list. Really appreciate it.
