can I hijack the thread? - what are 'long reach' plugs? I have just bought a new long block 1600TP and the destructions say "use long reach plugs" - are these standard W6AC - or what?

cheers
Rob

Pre Hijack :-

If your 1766 is built on a 1600 TP base then use W8AC as per stock 1600TP
The plug you listed is for T4 engines of 1700, 1800 and 2 liter capacity

Post Hijack :-

If your engine builder says "use long reach plugs" then it means the engine was built with later mexican heads which have a different casting, use a longer threaded hole for the plug and hence need modern type long reach plugs. Using short plugs will make it run like a dog.

merci m'sieur - so that's W7CC or W8CC long reach plugs depending on the operating temperature required - I found this thread on the Samba really helpful too

can anyone tell me what the operating difference would be from a '7' to a '8' plug?

after a run the other day mine started to run like a dog on tickover and was chuffing out dark black smoke, which i believe is to be fuel not oil.

i have just whipped out a plug and it is running wr7cc and was wondering if wr8cc would help?

cheers for any help :D
