Hi can anyone give me the name of a supplier of new brake calipers for my 1971 crossover viking bus K reg. One caliper is seized the other missing a lug. Just had Mot van passed after a few jobs Davey at garage said need to get this sorted asap he has quoted 120 quid each plus labour  but advised us to try and get some cheeper on internet if we can but must be new ...no recons  . Can you guys help. Cheers Alison Stirz :)

You wont get new, recons are damned expensive see JK, cheaper to go late conversion again see jk amongst other suppliers I must add....

why not take yours off soak em overnight in diesel then have a go at un seizing them, refurb kit for a few quid......got to be worth a couple of hours labour(120 each sounds costly to me think he may be trying to dissuade you asking him to go this dirty route  )

Been on JK they are 115 quid but as a virgin camper owner unsure if they will fit  :? and what about the one with the lug missing :?: But not afraid to get down and dirty

If you have a crossover ('72 models) then i think you have the later brakes, these are a damn site cheaper than the earlier 1 year only brakes (ask me how i know  )
If you do have the earlier brakes then buy the JK conversion kit, i run this and haven't had any issues. Its the new type calipers with the thinner later pads and adapter bushed to enable fitment to the earlier mounts but i would check as i'm sure CO's have later type brakes :?

Bus was registered on 7th Sept 1971 can you tell me what it really is :? as I said I am new to all of this cheers Alison Stirz :) :) Can post more pics if you like :) :)

As per SCC the 71 and 72 are the same (early 71 had the single nipple but dimensions and fit are the same)....

Sorry fella missed the broken lug, you can get that repaired by someone thats willing and capable of welding cast try local engineers its only a case of building up the area grinding the faces back and drilling.... the rebuild is fairly straight forward to be honest depends on the state of the pots and pistons they may just need a clean or rehoning.....

I paid £40 at a show for a pair of US imported '71 calipers. Yes, they are used, but they haven't been in a wet climate and the bores and seals on them are perfect. If you look at secondhand ones you might get usable ones, or ones worth rebuilding, pretty cheaply.

Ive got a little cash coming as involved in a RTA with my dad where we were hit by a range rover in our clio (so you can imagine the outcome) . I think I'll just treat Benny to some new adapted ones, ;) ;) But will ring guy at outermotive to get advice and a price. Thankyou very much everyone :D :D :D
