With the van on it's side to repair chassis i notice that the tube's/sleeves :? for the brake and throttle cables are not in the best of condition and wondered if it's possible to buy new or if not has anybody got any idea's for replacements.

Thanks in advance

Andy

I guess you are talking about the hand brake and the throttle only.

I would expect any MOT tester to be very sniffy about dodgy guide tubes as they can conceivably interfere with control of the vehicle, say a rotting bit falls off and restricts cable movement.

But, they are there to keep things clean, if you remove all the dodgy bits how much are you left with? Is there enough to kill the rust, repaint, grease the cables, and maybe wrap with a protective sleeve? Testers only examine what they can see.

B&Q also have metal tube the exact size for the handbrake cable tube (the one that goes through the chassis) in about 1m lengths - tubes on my 69 were 2m long so just welded 2 together :D
