Whilst building my first engine from the ground up from my bay, I've been building a spreadsheet of all of the usual suspects (VWH, M7, Cool Air, GSF/VeeWee etc.) prices for the parts I needed; so I could pick the cheapest places for each part and save a little bit of cash.
In the process I had a quick look on Euro Car Parts and Car Parts 4 Less (same company, different prices, CP4L always cheaper) who are usually my go to for modern car parts. I never really expected them to stock much, and they don't, but what they do stock appears to be very well priced.

For instance, an Elring flywheel seal is ~£3.60 at CP4L with code, that exact same seal is ~£8 elsewhere (I ordered 1 from CP4L and 1 from a VW specialist to be sure).
Victor Reinz gasket set was ~£24, without rocker cover gaskets. The same elsewhere is £40+!

So just a heads up really, if your looking to buy any replacement bits, particularly more common parts, it's worth having a quick scroll through ECP and CP4L.
I used both VW Transporter 71 1.6 and VW Beetle 72 1.6 as car selections, both give slightly different results.
