Chap I sold my old late bay to has had it stolen. The beak recovered it from a field with very little damage but the number plates and vin and M plates missing. Aparantly, the chassis number isn't there either and the insurance company have made it a cat B write off, just because it couldn't be identified if it was stopped by the bill and the guy can't prove it's his.
Sounds harsh and not right.
Where the hell are the chassis plates or number on mine? are they just on the VIN plate or somewhere else as well?

Seems strange that he was not able to prove that the vehicle was his if he has history/photos etc ( Proof).
But then again nothing would shock me when it comes to insurance companies lol

I know the vehicle you are talking about and also met the owner the other day.
A sad story :( .
My Vin is riveted to the dash. Nearside.
Mines a US import (not sure if that makes any difference?)

The main jist i've got from reading about cat B's is they scrap them for safety reasons not identification ones. I really hope I don't smell a rat :?

Dont know the rules and regs etc but a fair amount of the vin had been welded over so the van couldnt be identified
