Have you driven your bus with it fitted yet?

If so, is there much difference in effort required to turn the wheel?

Yes I have driven it about 14 miles and there was a big differance no play no wondering around everywhere.
But there was a problem with my beam so i have just replaced it with a new one from creative I have not tried it with the new beam
I cn't wait ;)

Is the aluminum cylindrical thing you can see under the front bumper the end of the rack? If so, do you think that it would be exposed to high curbs etc on a lowered van?

Sorry for all the questions, but as you say, you're the first to get one of these on a RHD van and I'm keen to find out more!

Hi yes it is the steering rack.
:msn4: David at creative does say it s not for extremely lowered buses mine is lowered 4inch and it misses curbs no problem.

It is a joy to drive it's very nearly like having power steering also with creative s front beam fitted the ride has improvered 150% ,
I Have seen these beams being put to gather the workmanship and the quality of the materials is second to none. ;)

I think the kit cost £599 for the steering rack and all the bits. But the build and quality of it it should last for ever.

Did you fit it or did you have someone do it for you. I am fairly average when it comes to getting the tools out. Many hours labour?

David from creative fitted it but i have taken it off to replace the front beam.
Bascalliy just take of the front bumper and old steering box and bolt the new plate into place then the steering rack then you have to cut a couple of inchs of one of the bumper irons. Then its all done it should take around 4-5 hours.

Hi I think the three types he mentions is one for the split screen early bay and late bay he's also making a powering steering one. :p

if you have a lowered bus there is a chap who has fitted one, but had to go some cutting of the chassis etc. to get it to fit. There are photos of it on the samba. if anyone is interested I'll dig out a link.
