just replaced the worn out bulb holders on the back of the dash - but cant figure out how to get the last bulb on the right of the dash (LHD) that lights up the fresh air vent. the back of the bulb holder hits the fixing bar that the consol screws to.

any ideas - before I get the grinder out??

cheers

DOnt think i have explained it very well!!
Will get a picture on here in a bit.

bad pics, sorry - its dark in my garage, and a bit cramped!

you can just make out the hole for the last bulb holder, it illuminates the 'OFF & MAX' on the console.
but when you fit the bulb holder it fouls on the metal bracket behind it that the dash fixing screws connect to.
The only thing I can think is that it must take a different stlye bulb holder or something??
I was going to cut the bracket off so it only fixes on the top screw - but it seems a bit extreme just to get some more night time lights!!

Anyone know the answer??

Hi!

Is it a late bay console/surround? The earlybay isn't the same as that? Didn't know the late ones lit up? Yours must have been changed if it's a 69?

Reckon it must be mate - Oh well no dash disco lights for me then!

Hi!

Quite possibly the metal bracket that is in the way isn't there on the late models? I'm sure maybe a differant bulb or led may be able to fit with some wiring etc? I'm sure a led will run ok on the same series at the other dash bulbs, the dont draw much current so should get much drop, depends on how you wire it though.

Cheers!

ahh yes I see now - you have a late US dash in an EB, the late bays do not have the metal vertical pod fixing straps, they have funny L shaped brackets that clamp the pod to the dash surround with a screw.

you could if you want an easy fix and not too bothered about originality - is to grind the strip out and then that side use the fixing clamps........

chap on vzi lhu128l sells them and the right screws.....

cheers guys, it was as much about finding out why it wouldnt fit really, was buggin me!
I think I will keep it original and just glue an LED in place - good thinking!
