Just picked up some of these, does anybody have a scan of some fitting and set up instructions they could post here?

you will need gauges etc to set them up proper or a rolling road session, do you know whats in them (chokes, idle jets, pump jets etc). I understand that easy knows of a rolling road Bristol way that is good with aircooled v dubs may be worth a pm to him

I'm thinking of something as a little more basic like #hat to connect to #here during fitting. There are 2 fuel hose stubs on each so I assume that you have a T piece in the fuel line going to each then a hose that links them together?

Also seems to be a couple of vacuum hose studs on each, do you blank the off or do these go some#here?

And just in case you haven't guessed already I've not bought ' Tin 40's ' and I can spell..........it's just the damn 'double U' button on my keyboard's stopped #orking............

firstly if your fitting these it's easier and better to remove the engine, the time taken to do this will save you a lot of hassle later on.
Fuel out/inlets, I took my fuel line (as you look into the engine bay) to the upper left and then ran a line from the lower left to the upper right the lower right needs blanking (small hose with blot in it in you have to).
The brass vaccum take offs are there for balancing the carbs as long as these are in, you do not need to do anything with them, it however is advisable to remove these before you install the engine as the snap easy (yes I done it).
When fitting the manifolds you will also need to ease the tin work a bit around the inlet area unless you have better manifolds than mine.
Also make sure that the choke controls on the side of the carbs is blanked off unless your running sp fan shroud as this gets in the way also.
Make sure before you go though this heart ache that the carbs are atleast a matched set (same internals and chokes etc).

I will say that once fitted it does make a difference to response/economy etc, we are running 40's on a stock 16 tp, I know it's a bit over the top but they were bought in readiness for a CC upgrade.

Cool thanks. The carbs are matched and jetted for a 1641 so I'm hoping they should be pretty good out the box as this is what they will be fitted too.

The brass vacuum pipes then, should these have a cap on on or do they just stay there open ended when you're running?

Found a new keyboard so I have my wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww's back, should make looking for vw stuff a bit easier on eBay now :D

I assume that your talking about the 4-5mm brass tube that sticks out the carb if so leave as is just make sure they are tight, there is a little O ring that seals them from memory Good luck.

you only need one of these, there are 2 for differing sizes of fuel line.
