Hi..Ive just got a book about camper van conversions and interiors out of the library (and very good it is too).

I've discovered that I own a 1973 Devon Eurovette.

As such, apparantly I should have a switch on the dash board to operate the water pump.

My question's..Where on the dashboard was this switch and what did it look like ?.

I'm trying to restore the interior to something approximating original so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking

Hi Stirlingmoz. I used to own a very original and unmolested '74 Eurovette, and I'm racking my brain to remember if there was a switch or not on the dash.
If I remember correctly there was a knob with a picture of a tap on it, located in the row of knobs for the lights and hazards. Looking at my (not very clear) photos it could be the first one to the left of the steering column. I can't say 100% that I'm correct though. The button to operate the pump itself was located on the side of the unit, just by the sliding door.

I hope this helps. Happy to show you pictures of the interior of my van if you like. :D

Doug..That would be great. Was it a VW style knob with a rounded end or something different ?. It sounds like something thats going to be hard to find.

Pictures would be great.

You can send them to me at

Thanks for the reply

Peter you're welcome. I'll do that in the next day or so. :D

Re the knob, yes, it was a vw style rounded one. Just to check that my memory isn't playing tricks on me I shall check with a couple of other peeps I know with similar vans, or maybe someone else on here can confirm this too. :D

when you say water pump you mean the window washers? :? for me the washers are built into the wiper switch.

i have a 71 moonraker but dont have such a switch? and the sink is a whale pump? cant think of why you would need a water pump?

Water pump..I have already converted my windscreen washers to electric operation as the standard set up though original was a bit feeble and not safe in my opinion, these days.

No..I meant there is a (whale) pump which sends cold water to the sink from a plastic resevoir. It has a button below the sink (a bit like a doorbell) but this, I understand does not have any power until it is powered by another switch on the dashboard.

It is this dashboard switch I am reserching. I think it may have been peculiar to the Devon Eurovette.

It is a useful feature for me because my children see a button and feel obliged to press it an see what it does. At the moment it is dead but I would like to restore it to its former glory.

Thanks for your interest.

Never thought of that (window washers), but I think Stirlingmoz is indeed refering to the electric sink tap pump as fitted to Devon Eurovettes. At least my late bay Eurovette had one, and that was an original fitment. :D

I've just checked with someone who has a later (late 70s) Eurovette, and his one doesn't have an isolator, but if I come across anyone else with a '73 I'll check for you.:D

I'll still send you pics in anycase. :D

Ah i see :D , an isolater, my pump is a hand pump. must have changed in 72, as moonraker, caravette and eurovette hed the same year fitments.
