Hi. I have inherited a 1971 VW Bay Dormobile. It was bought new by my mam's uncle who then sold it to my dad. He carried out a lot of rust repairs, then used it for several years. When I was younger I used it to travel to the Isle of Man TT many times.
More recently though, my dad kept the van in long grass and bushes until it was in a very sad state.
When my dad died, the van fell to me and I have begun its rehabilitation.
Being a realist I realised that I wouldn't have sufficient time to carry out all of the amount of work required, so I passed the van over to be extensively welded and panels replaced where needed.
The welder had been sent a replacement engine hatch door as the original had been patched up by my dad and then rotted again.
He cut out the lock ready to fit into the new door, but then discovered the replacement was a Brazilian sized replacement - ie: too short and differently hinged.
I have brought the door away and fully welded in a new section and ribs but, as the section containing the lock was cut roughly out, I don't have a measurement for the door lock hole.
Could anyone give me a dimension from the hinge edge to the centre of the barrel of the door lock?
I have to use this edge as the datum because the bottom edge was already lost to the first repair.
Also the overall size of the door from top to bottom as I have repaired a repair and need to be sure the size is correct.
Cheers
