I have bought some new locks for the bay and they fitted really easily but......
when the door is open they lock and nlock really easy but when the door is closed they lock well enough but cant get them to unlock. The reason i changed them is because the barrels had seized in my old locks and it was cheaper to buy handles with locks already in although i now have different keys but thats not really an issue.
Have i done something wrong or si there a quick repair

Anyone?
Dont understand why they will lock when the door is open but as soon as the door is closed i cant turn the key enough to through the lock.

i had this problem with my old locks and it turned out to be a little return spring in the barrel had worked loose.

i've had the same problem, it's a complete ******* to fix... and i'll bet you it's the locking mechanism inside the door! mine was seized with 30 years of gunk and crap on the mechanism inside the door, so i stripped it down cleaned it up and used lots of WD40, plus sprayed a fair bit in the locks too.

The main arm that runs along the inside of the door might need moving over a fraction towards the outer handle (trust me it helps). take the door card off loosen the bolts and move it over as much as you can then tighten back up.

With the door open put the mechanism into the lock position now shake the door back and forth slightly, part of the mechanism should be disengaged and you will hear/see it moving freely (mine was seized up with crud).

I also find a slight tap on the handle with the palm of your hand will free the mechanism up if it gets stuck, not ideal I know! but it's just another one of your bus's unique points!

Hope this helps you stop tearing your hair out like i did!

just need to adjust the door lock mech.... was this the lock that was seized? if so its likely bet that its suffered water ingress and just requires a bloody good clean and soak in something like wd40 etc....

must say, I have this problem but I feel its to do with door fitment, i.e. alignment, seal something like that.My doors have been off in the past and been re skinned, no doubrt had re placement door seals as well.
When I lean into the door handle and push the door against the body, it seems to ease the pressure on the door catch and the key turns freely to lock and unlock, when I take the pressure off the door then I cannot turn the key to unlock the door.its as if the door is undertoo much pressure to stay open against the catch.
Likewise, when the door is open the lock works perfectly, any of this sound familiar?

Like Araon said it's deffo the mechanism, especially if it will lock and unlock freely when the door is open. Take it out n clean it up.

With regards to you having to put pressure on the door to unlock it, check the strike plate on the door frame. I adjusted them also and it seemed to help.

Well i've been having a play and i've managed to get the drivers side working properly.
Removed all the door furniture and the panel, had a play loosing and tightening, adjusting etc etc all the lock mechansim and also the strike plate but it was still the same so i've completely removed the lock and cleaned and regreased it, still the same, so i got the old handle and noticed that the part that the barrel fits into is longer on my new handle and looked like when the door was closed it was sitting to tight up against the lock, putting to much pressure onto the mechanism. So i placed a small washer between the door and the handle, refitted everything and its now working, locks and unlocks as it should.
Just need to repeat the same on the other side and i finally have a bay that i can lock!
