my locks and handles work correctly from the inside.

i can lock the door from the outside, then unlock it.

but...

if i lock it, pull the lever to check it is locked, then try to unlock it it will not unlock.

answers on a postcard please.

I have the same prob with my passenger door :(
but have been told its a simple fix as its the spring thats broken or gummed up with dirt
Part No.13 in diagram from VW Heritage

Anyone ever fitted this spring?
Interested as i have the same problem!
Usually a thump on the door inline with the interior lock does the job

the locks can be a bit fiddly, had the same problem but now fixed.

what i suggest is you take the whole mech out of the doors and de-gunk and clean up, then add a shed load of wd-40.

i also found that things were easier if i didn't tighten everything back up to within an inch of it's life... i have a habit of doing that, a prime example are the black covers that surround the inner door lock. too tight and you cant open as it stops movement.

loosey-goosey baby
