Hello people,

Has anyone been to Ireland in there vans and have any advice about driving over there, and anyone need to use break down there as I seem to be having issues with AA regards being covered in the south?

anyhelp/ advise much appreciated

thanks

Simon

There'll be somebody close to help out regardless of where you are, t'is only a small island.

http://www.type2ireland.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Road signs are useless because everybody knows where they are going and how to get there before they set off.

No idea why AA are giving you hassle...

The AA aren't giving me hassel as such just that they are saying that the cover they provide for the south is road side only!!!! I think they are trying to make me upgrade just for the trip, but I just wanted them to confirm what assistance they offer in the south as we are travelling from Dublin to Galway then up north around the causeway coast the back on the ferry at belfast 2 weeks later.

Thanks for the info on the links I'll take a look.

cheers

I'll be over in Ireland from the 31st July - 2nd September, part working part holiday but will be taking the bus with me. Heading down to do the Kerry ring from the 15th August for a week or so once the wife and kids have flown out to join me.

The rest of the time we are south of Loughrea close to Galway, if you are around give us a call and say hello.

We are covered with the RAC for breakdowns in Ireland, I always thought the NI was covered as part of the standard GB cover with the breakdown companies!!

May get down to Cork not sure yet if I do i'll give you a call if you let me have your number,

i definitely wouldnt drive anything other than a Syncro south of the border...

i once went into a pot hole and came out the other end 4 days later. :p

Jokes aside i think it has much improved roads, re breakdown cover my AA membership covers both north and south of the border, you can also opt for holiday cover anywhere in europe with AA just tell them where and when you are going.

Thanks for all your replies peeps!!!

I've been looking on the links you've sent good stuff there. I'm setting off tomorrow for the ferry in hollyhead, just finished servicing the van and fitted new exhaust so should be good to go.

Just found out too that the ferry has free Wi Fi on board, great last minute surfing for info and weather etc..........

I'm hoping to try and do a travel log/blog type thing of the trip, there are 3 vans going so should be fun.

You could do a lot worse than hooking up with this lot :)

If not, have a good trip anyway.
