Early bay sliding door U brackets - What finish please

My sliding door U bracket is fitted to a 69 RHD dormobile. When I bought the van the bracket was badly painted and lived under 10 coats of paint!
I have seen some in chrome, some painted silver and some the van body colour.

My question is this, what was the stock finish please?

Stock they were a pale shiny grey.

Mine's rust brown in colour. Probably doesn't help you though!

It looks like the colour used on Rostyle wheels on MGBs etc..

NOS:

Bay tripper, would you kindly post a side profile of your NOS hinge too please, particularly around the top and bottom of the U bracket?
There is some vertical play in mine and I'm not sure if I'm missing a copper(?) collar on the base of the u bracket Spring side or even both sides??

I think the copper parts are ones that are sold to rectify wear where the U-part goes.

Coolair used to sell them - the ones I've seen are on both sides

Actually it's vwed not baytripper. I don't have any profile shots on file (on thesamba.com) so copied this off another contributor on the samba.com.
