Engine Heat Woes

After driving my van for X amount of time then stopping engine (after the engine is hot).
It sometimes is hard to get the thing re-started and I am not sure why.

Does anyone have the answer :idea:

Hot starting the aircooled flat 4 is a know issue.

From memory the process is as you start the engine slowly depress the throttle pedal and hold till starts. I think that right?
