From a '71 Van is this a Single Port?

Hi,

Think i read that somewhere too. IIRC, the SP has a smaller carb, the twin port has a 34 PICT3. You can fit the larger carb on the smaller manifold, with a adaptor.

Below the alt stand should be the engine number

http://www.volksbolts.com/faq/eng-codes.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The B code is single port, AD, AE, AS are twin port.

Mine is a AE type engine, which is a Beetle engine, USA only, 71 model year, twin port.

Cheers,

Alistair

Factory output graphs for SP and TP 1600 engines. I've also heard an SP is the torquer of the 2 but these graphs say otherwise. Not only does the TP have slightly more power, but it appears to have more torque through the rev range.

Sorry about the huge pics. I stole them from acsa.
