MOT to end of May 2011

British Army green, matt, hand-painted with military style riveted panel repairs.

We are selling our beloved early bay tintop. After 5 years of fun, regrettably it's time to let her go. This is not a 'show' or concourse van but it is a good reliable vehicle that we have put a lot of time, effort and money (around £6,000) to modernising her and make her a comfortable camper.

Non structural body repairs have been done using sheet steel and pop rivets which give her an army battle-bus look which is certainly eye-catching - this is definitely a van with character!

The good points:
* Just 3,000 miles on a recon engine that always starts
* Twin-port 1600
* Fitted with full-flow oil filter (the standard engine just has wire mesh instead of a proper filter)
* This engine was built by Laurie Pettitt, VW engine guru (check out Laurie's reputation via Google or any VW site)

* The body has had "honest" repairs using riveted steel - you won't find acres of hidden filler on this van.

* Custom built camping interior with full width bed (or full width rear seat) and storage underneath
* Swing-out cooker with two burners and grill
* Leisure battery with associated circuitry and 50 amp alternator
* Sink unit with small sink, 12V pump tap and four 12V power sockets
* 230V electric hook up
* CD radio with mp3 player connection
* Speaker sockets and good quality speakers that go nicely under the van for camping tunes

We have tried to modernise her as well:
* Alarm and immobiliser
* Remote central locking on front doors
* Heated leather seats in front (from a Saab 900)
* Reversing lights
* Halogen headlamps
* The heater actually works!

The not so good
* This is not a show-winning van and never will be
* The underside has had a lot of welding. She has been recently undersealed so hopefully future work will be minimised. We can supply photos of the underside – or even better, come and have a crawl underneath.
* The starter motor is noisy and may need replacing soon.
* The wrap-around side pieces of the front bumper got damaged parking but can be repaired. The brackets for these need to be welded also.
* Rear door seal leaks in heavy rain. If we were keeping her, we would replace the rubber seals. The mattress definitely needs replacing because of this.
* The bed/rear seat is our own design, made from an Ikea futon. You may decide to splash out on a rock’n’roll bed
* Customised exterior and interior may not be to everyone's taste.
* Original artwork by Matt Jordan (mattjordan.co.uk) – on the outside of the van the images are on stickers so can easily be removed. Images on the furniture in the van would need painting out – although we hope that the buyer will want to keep them
* Carpet in camping area has never been the same since we spilled half a litre of cooking oil on it. Actually, quite a lot of things got spilled on it…
* A crack has appeared in the paint at the front (not structural)

We have tried to list all the faults as honestly as we can and have lots more photos we can send you. There are probably other niggles but we have nothing to hide and will answer any questions you may have.
