Up for sale are these Birch Ply units I’ve just finished building. Having built the units, I’ve thought of a few improvements I’d like to make as well as a change to Vohringer / Morland panels so I’m going to let these go to help fund the next version!
These are all CNC cut, glued and tactically screwed out of sight for greater rigidity. The exposed edges have iron on birch edging, Hafele hinges and pop button catches throughout. The units are bare birch finish, so you can finish them to your own taste. Some people do not like the iron on edging, but most of the exposed edges could be reached with a router should you wish to retro fit T-trim
In some of the photo's the vanity rings for the handles are not in place, this is only because I didn't want to final fit them as they should be a tight fit.
Price for the whole lot is £999 (excluding hob). Naturally, I’d rather someone bought the whole lot so I’m not left with odd parts, so I'll give it a week or so to see if anyones interested, but if this isn’t going to happen each part could be available as follows :
Walk-through Buddy Box : £135
Designed with a slanted base to level out the top of the box with the seat runners. Small map pocket at the front, fold down door at the rear, lift up top door and the now ubiquitous cup holders at the front. The cup holder panel is loose to allow for final finishing inside the pocket.
Bulkhead Seat 01 : £275 (Both Bulkhead Seats £500)
Approx 950mm tall, 600mm overall depth, 480mm wide. Both bulk head seats have been designed similar to the Early Bay Devon Caravette, so there is a back piece and a removable seat base. The side panels have been scribed to fit around the bulkhead pads and have been cut for a 5 x 7“ speaker to be located behind the front seats. The speaker panel is a few mm smaller then it's host to allow for a discrete fabric covering. The fixed seat backs have a small bottom cupboard and a thinner top cupboard with fixed shelves. There is a grove cut in the underside for a recessed LED fitting (not supplied)
Seat 01 has been design for a hob to be inserted into the base. There is a hole shaped for a Dometic Cramer CE88 ZF EK2000 hob (can include for + £125). There is a hole in the rear panel of the seat to allow access for gas storage (hob, gas + fittings not included). The back box has been cut for a power sockets (these can be included + £15),
alternatively, you could put this back box against the side panel.
Bulkhead Seat 02 : £250
As Bulkhead Seat 01, with one less shelf in the back cupboard; not drilled for power sockets and the base is cut to take a plastic bowl from The Range (can include for free). There were a couple of small errors with the CNC cutting resulting in a couple of areas I've had to adjust. I’ve had to fill with matching filler, which is hardly noticeable, but I’ve adjusted the price from Bulkhead Seat 01 to reflect this.
One of the reasons for basing the desing on the Caravette layout is the possibility of creating more space by rearranging the box seats or easily removing them
Rear Quarter Unit : £300
775mm tall, 815mm long and 311mm wide. Designed to sit alongside our Volkswares 1150mm R+R bed. Small top access cupboard to the rear, large front access cupboard with cubby holes to make best use of the space over the wheel arch. The unit is drilled for a small switch (will include) for lighting and two power sockets discretely located by the kick panel (which are included + the vanity ring, which is not fitted). I test fitted 12v fuse box and marked up for a distribution box (I can include these +£25). There is a grove cut in the underside for a recessed LED fitting (not supplied).
Kick Panel : £40
This has been designed to suit the above bed with 6 x 9” speaker cut outs and stand offs to clear the tweeters. I’ve drilled the rear for fixings and the bottom is slightly angled to suit my van, plus it comes up a little short from side to side, hence the low price.
The cut out at the bottom is for an recessed LED strip. There are a few shaped support panels designed to suit the bed base, which I would throw in for nowt.
Folding Table : £40
465 x 465mm, folding out to 465 x 930mm. This will need the hinges fitting once varnished or lacquered, but they are routed already to go (I’m not keen on screwing and unscrewing these). I will include a few extra strips of ply I had thought of using for additional support, but it will need legs to suit your own van.
If I get some time or if it's left over, I'll complete the table as intended, but it will increase the price.
