well mines from the states and it has a bracket on the front bumper with the plate mounted to the bracket, changed it for a UK one now though, but still in the same spot.

I think that may explain the lack of holes in my front bumper!!

now then, should i run the bus without one??

where is the best place to get an american plate made, i was told last night, but i cant remember!!

i have the OGs like this on my 66 bug and they look great 8)

it is illegal unless of course the bus is on show/private land or in the states  but you can get the number plate brackets for a few quid and as with the above pic stick centre of the bumper.... remember the us plates are show use only....
legal road use is the age related silver on black or the newer yellow and black and white and black

CHECK OUT THIS THREAD - http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4384&hilit=film" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; loads of shots of early bays in america, might give you an idea.I think where you have it is great but what you need is some archive pics to see where they would have gone when new. Having said that, it may have been down to the person who attached them at the dealers?!

How about watching a few episodes of CHiPs - there is loads of 60/70's busses on there with plates on.But like Aaron said, plates are/were not compulsory on the front in US so may have been 'self fitted'

There is not much of a choice really, above the bumper, on the bumper or with a bracket under the bumper.
I would suggest the option of above the bumper to look best and prevent it getting damaged from being on the bumper. its funny that a delicate number plate mounted on a bumper will get scraped/knocked before the bumper does - you see a lot damaged!

Are these any good? I bought some, but decided to use my old holes - as when i removed my usa plate there were about 6 holes all over the shop!! Luckilly the holes lined up with gaps on my raised letters.

These little brackets would be great, and saves you drilling holes in the bumper.

Mine are for sale, a fiver posted if you want?! PM me if you're interested........

As far as I can gather all vans registered new in the uk had them fitted on the front panel above the bumper, US busses had them fitted on the bumper depending on what state they are from some dont need a front plate, California for one but most do.
