Hi any one had any experience with kompressor house supercharger company ? Any thoughts on there products ? Anyone got one fitted ?
Just wondering about fitting and longevity of such an installation on a 1600 twin port engine?
Bud

Just slapping a blower or turbo onto a stock motor will just result in an inevitable and premature failure. Engines built properly and specifically for forced induction is a different beast to a naturally aspirated one.

Bearing clearances, piston ring gaps, compression ratio, cylinder head chamber design, camshaft selection, ignition timing/control and even spark plugs all need to be re thought. These companies sell them as a ‘bolt on kit’ but that’s far from the case, it’s not uncommon on the Facebook pages to see people whining that they’ve melted pistons or torched barrels shortly after fitting these kits

totally makes sense where dose a complete novice that just has a 1600 TP that just wants to get up hills more efficiently
start to find a good engine builder these days that a customer can leave with and trust ??
cheers Bud.

Most peeps on here will recommend a decent builder they’ve used, and they’re who you need to explain your specifics too. The parameters can be where exactly you are, how far you’re willing to travel, and how many millyuns you want to throw at it. We all start off with just getting up hills a little tidier, then some go bonkers and end up on the drag strip, some like stock or stock ish and there’s a load of variations in between. I’ve got a low mileage 1641 in mine mostly stock but twin carbs and a stainless exhaust. I’ve never had to change down on a motorway, ever. Just after the M5 finishes down your way, there’s a couple of serious inclines that I’ve reached for third if I don’t get a run up at them. Mostly I’ll sit somewhere between 55 and 65 depending on traffic and overtaking but mainly 55-60. If I scream the pants off him on a flat straight, 75 is achievable and once I hit 80 and a bit, but we all know that the motor would last about a month if I kept that up. There’s also lots of room for engine conversions as well with Subaru being a lot of horses for your money and just about anything can and has been shoved into a Bay at sometime. Try and get a ride with other peeps and see what they got and how that works for you too. I’d maybe start off with a wiggle of your crank pulley for end float then a bit of a tune up and a compression test to kick off, then you’ll know exactly what you got to start off with.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,welcome to the house of fun :)
