I've got a 68 bay, it came from the states some years ago with a 1500 single port. My dilemma is, I want to retain the 1500 single port and run with that, however thinking I may get bored later on down the line, I have a 1641 here in my garage. Would the recon gearbox be ok for either engine?

Or will I have to have an updated gearbox for the 1641?

Was thinking of getting gearbox reconditioned now and how would it affect the bus between 1500 single port and 1641 twin carb?

Got my last gearbox for my old split from Cogbox, worked fine. Do I go with him again or try another? Recommendations please.

Just love the simplicity of a 1500 single port....

Thanks

The difference between the two is only a few horsepower. Not enough to make any difference for a gearbox.

Agree with Trikky - fine to use with both, no major difference in HP.

In fact with the hassle I've had recently, I'd be inclined to say if the 1500 runs well, then stick with it!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

Thanks for the response. Just a big fan of 1500 sp did well in the Splitty.
