Hi all
Yes i own a 1971 early bay Betty. I bought her last year and since then she’s had more time in the garage than on my drive. Fingers crossed as i sort stuffs remaining to be fixed 🤞 the joys of owning a VW .

Welcome Justin. Most of the stuff that happens to these old vans revolves around years of neglect and lack of regular maintenance. The service intervals on these old vans was something in the region if three to eight thousand miles depending on driving conditions. As they got older, most of that went out the window, and they only got sorting just to keep them going as at one time their monetary worth had dropped significantly so peeps just didn’t spend on them hence all the bodges that we find. Keep on top of it and learn what needs regularly checking an£ you’ll be fine. I’ve only ever been on the back of the low loader just the once in fifteen to twenty years, and in hindsight I’d run that motor on borrowed time for a couple of years.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,have fun, big welcome, and pop up some pictures bud :)

Welcome Just, pictures of your van please............

I've been on a low-loader twice in 17yrs. One was my fault cuz I fitted a suspension component incorrectly  the other time was a failed coil...
