Hi Folks,

Does anyone know the weight of a bay window body shell?
(No glass, doors, interior, engine, gearbox, no mechanical components - i.e.:totally stripped of everything but paint).

I'm wondering if 4 people could lift and move it around?

Thanks,

Technut.

I've searched and searched and can only find weights kerb weights and such.

If you recall any more info, please holler!

no idea of a weight but I would guess no. :?

A Beetle body take three to lift..............must eat more shreddies...

it took 4 of us to lift a westy roof (complete) cut off at the pillars, and that was heavy enough, unless its 4 beefcakes your gonna struggle me thinks :x

no way youll lift it, i have everything stripped except the running gear and i can push it around myself on a flat concrete floor but lifting it would require more than four people. Two of us can just about flip it using a body roller but my back has been fooked since

I would guesstimate a shell stripped of everything including the beam and rear running gear would still be 800-900 kilos, (engine weighs @ 100kgs, gear box about 40kgs)

Four large people would be lifting the equivalent of twice their body weight. You would damage the panels in the process anyways.
