Heated Rear Screen wiring

My van has this setup was it an option?

If I'm honest even thou I've owned the van for over a year now I've never pulled the switch out for it :lol:

Reason being is I could only see one wire connected the screen (right hand side) the left hand tab had nothing connected so just assumed it wasn't wired up? but looking at the wiring diagram it seems that it only needs to be earthed in the other side? can anyone confirm? does anyone have a pic of how the wirings should be on the screen?

Heated rear windows seem to have been the norm for North American specification, 1968~79 VW Type 2s.

As you correctly surmise, one terminal on the heated rear window, merely needs to be connected to a good body earthing point.
