OK i fitted a new steering coupler and when i fitted it all back together i was happy, then i found out the horn doesn't work or the main beam. Its obviously something to do with the earth wire on the steering coupler but i can't work it out. I ended up putting a seperate switch for the horn to get it through an mot and the lights just started to work again, until i tried to start it this week.
What happens is the horn only works when the steering wheel is in the right place, the main beam has stopped all together.

fuses are fine, so what do you guys think?

Cheers Darius

the main beam has nothing to do with column ,its more likely a broken wire on switch or earth has become disconected, some modals it fits on back of dash.if you disconected the horn wire at bottom of column and put it to seperate switch how can the steering affect it???.sounds like the earth wire on column has been fitted wrong side of joint, must fit on steering box side.

The horn problem is one that can take a while to get your head around. I posted some info here that may help. There is also a load of stuff on one of the other popular forums here that I started as I had a real problem with my horn.

Hope this helps

Cheers, ill check which side the earth ie connected. It did this before and this is why I put a separate switch on.

I will have a read of the other link too.

It's probably not going to get sorted soon, as my missus seems to ignore me when I say " I'm going up to sort the van out Saturday"

Somehow she heard, you go shopping before I get up then I'll dry line the garage walls and entertain the kids.

And the women say we have selective deafness!!!!

I spent an age sorting my horn out and I really got my head round it. I think the links cover pretty much everything you need to know. If you are still having a problem though let me know and I'll see if I can help.
