hey guys, can i ask how you tell if your tinware is original or not ?

i have the cylinder shrouds and they look ok but havent a clue whether original or not.
searches seem to get people saying use og stuff as repros are crap ??

You can generally tell if its repro stuff as its a lot thinner than original tin. And it probably wont fit properly

The OG stuff fits. A lot of the aftermarket stuff doesent, requires "modification" and is not as solid - though you often need both types to see the difference.

If your current tinware fits reasonably why worry?

 it seems to fit BUT thats the funny thing, i havent got any original to compare it with

The cylinder shrouds seem thinner and more flimsy than the tinware on the bottom where the exchangers attach :?

bloody bus's, i should get on with some work :msn4:

 I have not seen these repro cylinder tins without the deflectors before. Shocking. Only goes to illustrate why pattern parts cannot be trusted and must always be compared to stock before fitting.

Reminds me of some of those aftermarket fanshrouds - some of which were just empty boxes - but people fitted them anyway because they looked nice on the outside.

wow, never knew repro cylinder head tin had bits missing! cowboys.

the genuine head tins i bought had a small vw logo stamped on them,if that helps.
