Looking at some early bays they have reversing lights cut out - but not all. Was it a standard fit or an option?

Also - sounds a bit sad and I know we have a members map which I will register on, but am looking for someone who lives in and around west oxfordshire or oxford who doesn't mind me (not often I promise) to allow me to look around / discuss their van to see where things go. I am restoring I hope! a very rusty van and stupidly - much as I am very fond of her (Cynthia) bought her disassembled - with many parts missing. Trying to get sense of where things go and hang together - to be able to see a van close up would be very helpful. Have never owned one previously....... Double stupid me !

Best wishes

Jonathan

Is it just American vans that have reverse lights?

I have a florida import and have converted the reverse lights into indicators - reverse lights not required for mot man!

Reverse lights were an optional extra in general, but were specced on all US buses due to safety laws. As StuF said, most convert them to indicators.

No don't convert them there cool, there is a thread on here on how to convert the rear lights, if it a US BUS much better option it's easy and it works it come from the http://www.Busandcamper.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site the articles page is down at the mo but it's goooood
Ps I live in Luton but I guess that to far

My bus is a European spec (68 deluxe) and it had reversing lights as an option when it was bought. I can't remember the m-code, but it's on my 'm-plate decoder' entry :)

I'm also having them converted to run as indicators too :D

Got it

http://www.busandcamper.com/67-13w-rear-light-rewire-for-euro-lights.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can do it with the busses existing wires just one new one in the engine bay and it's all done

Its a shame you're a little way up country I would be more than happy to talk about rebuilding (did mine a couple of years ago) If you are ever near Winchester you are welcome to pop by :) Good Luck with your rebuild

It's a choice between having working reverse lights and Euro lenses or no reverse lights and US lenses. I choose the latter. :)

ahh but if you use the euro back plates with green indicator bulbs then the red lenses flash orange sweet :D . but it is all a case of personal taste

I'm with you Richard, I think reversing lights are spot on and I find very helpful when reversing into my garage and tight spots at night.

Where did you get your green bulbs from ?

I did exactly the same thing.......went and bought the bus without having any prior knowledge but I have to say the people on this forum are extremely helpful, also try and get along to any shows that you can. You will find most owners are more than happy to show you around and discuss their pride and joy! :D

Good luck!

I did the reversing lights to indicator conversion. The got a new stainless bodied light mounted on the bumper and connected it to the revering wires. Also matched it up the other side with a fog light

I used Euro light units behind US lenses and because one of my reveres lenses was smashed I brought a red lense to convert it into a fog light

Green bulbs? Where can you get them from?

Apologies about the crappy photo
