I've pulled my front discs off with the hub and the outer bearing stayed attached to the spindle. Obviously, it popped out of it's rubber housing and the spring/wire thing that runs inside the lip of the rubber has also dislodged.

Are they re-usable? Do they have to be remove from the spindle to be re-used or can I just pop the hub back on popping the seal over the already installed bearing?

Thanks

Steve

It sounds a little bit like you're confusing bearings and seals there?

Assuming your grease seal isn't split, and the "garter spring" is intact, then pop that spring back in it and use it again, why not.

same with the bearings, really. If I were you I'd give 'em a clean up, and inspect the surfaces of the needles and races for galling or damage. If they're OK, apply fresh grease and pop 'em back on.

Looks like you understood what I meant though :)

Do you need a puller to pull the bearing off the spindle?

Shouldn't do, no. Might need a few careful taps on the back with a hickory stick though.
