Someone may have come across this.

I have a 1970 bay and the Indicators and brake lights are still US spec I think. It passed a UK mot last year???? before I bought it. They fitted new light units but didn't sort the wiring out. When the brake lights are on and the Indicator is on the brake light cuts out. :?

Thakyou in advance

Probably a bad earth lead, try cleaning or running a test lead to a known good earth
are the seals on the lens in situ, water getting will corrode all the tabs
I hope the fix is that simple :)

The earth is good, but I am getting 12 volts when braking but from the same wire I am getting a switching 12 volts when the indicator is used?

Thankyou for the reply :D

I would recommend what Harlequin has said, you need a good earth to the light units try running a substitute earth to the lights to see if it improves, make sure all conacts are corrosion free also. You get a switching 12v from the brake light live when indicator is on because the earth path is insufficient to supply both at the same time and what you are reading is a voltage drop in the circuit when the indicator comes on.

Cheers, I will try that.
