Is it cost effective to get these bumpers beaten into shape?

My rule is use as many original parts as possible, they dont look that bad to me, a hammer and a bit of filler and they will look sweet 8)

Agreed well worth beating into shape especially if your rear is a diamond tip proper EB one.

Hi Alex.
Do you have any tips on how best to do this?

Thanks

Chris.

Sent it to this specialist classic bumper restoration place (chromerestorationspecialist.co.uk) who returned it to me within three days saying it would cost stupid money in labour to put straight. Guess I should keep and eye out for a straight of one which is a shame.

It would probably be stupid money if you wanted them to be chromed because you cant fill the minor indentations like you would with paint.

You might be better speaking to a local bodyshop/panel beaters. I reckon you could get them looking reasonable with a bit of time, a ball nose hammer and a couple of different blocks of wood cut to the right shape.
I straightened most of mine out(which were similar to yours by the look of it) using the same method and then put a skim of filler on to tidy up the slight dents left. They didn't turn out the best though because I only spent about 1.5 hours on them including filling and sanding.

Depends what finish you want ... the classic place would probably want lots of money as they would only make it 100% perfect, whereas you may not need that good a finish.

Ive tried re-aligning bay window bumpers before and the metal is bloody think and they dont bend back very easily!
