im going there for 2 weeks from the 28th any one else going :?: :D

ha - we're off for a familay weekend then, about 20 in total (not all in my van though) may see you around! will be in blue and white crossover.

we're away to the isle of wight on Sat. My first time there, im a little concerned about the road quality over there...no idea about beaches but will find out :D

Im over there for Bestival! just got me cheeky backstage passes sorted ;)

St Helens bay/beach very near Bembridge is a great beach, you can get your van right by the beach but not actually on it. Good photo opportunity. The restaurant on that beach is quality too, for a special occasion. Tidy little place.

Hi
I`m going there for five days,
from next monday (22nd).
Wife says it`s nice,
but i`m a bit worried about driving
my lowered bus on crap roads :?
I`ll be staying in Shanklin at
Ninham campsite.
Also booked two nights enroute,
at Hurst View in New Forest.
Ca`nt wait :D
Cheers Paul.

I don't recall the roads being that bad, i'm only dropped on spindles though, don;t know if that makes any difference. I am sure we camped at Ninham, about a mile outside Shanklin, was a tidy campsite, easy to get around from, whether yougo west or stay east. Again, St Helens beach was the best we found, Compton on the south coast is good, a bit more exposed, windy etc, good for boogie boarding. Another easy place to eat and which had entertainment for the kids, with good sea views was the Wight Mouse Inn, on the south coast near Compton beach. A big place but not in a town so easy to park etc.

We have just returned from a trip to the Isle of White in the Dry Cleaning van......It was an experience.

To be honest, I had an issue hitting a pothole well before the Isle of White, it was in fact the M11  . This has
caused the tracking to be well out and scrubbed the drivers tyre down to the threads.....those that went to Whitnoise/Dublicious
would have noticed it

The Isle of white itself was fantastic. We stayed at Grange Farm in Brighstone on the South West coast, that was about 7 miles from
Yarmouth. We weren't camped on the beach but our pitch was at the top of cliff overlooking the sea & beach. It only took 2 mins to get
your feet wet in the sea :D

Compton Bay was a lovely beach. It was ideal for Body Boarding

Brighstone Bay, this was the beach we could walk straight onto (Campsite is in the top right of picture)

And Freshwater Bay was a chilled out place -

As Ego said, in a lowered bus you have to be a little cautious with the roads, I found it mainly due to the camber of the road
the beam would scrape every now and again. If you take it easy you should be ok......I didn't find it much worse than North
Norfolk :D

Have a great time guys ;)

that road is fantastic (it look very much like the one that runs along the south of the island). i went along there last year in a lotus elise .... you an see well ahead of you at one point for about three bends. with nothing coming you can really drive it.

i've been to the iow a few times in the lotus, which is low and firm and had no problems at all.
